Question: Why do we call it “soccer” in the US when it’s called football in Europe?
“Football” in the U.S barely even has contact between player’s feet and the ball. So why didn’t we take the same name for a game already named earlier in other countries?

Question: Is Obama commiting the ultimate unAmericanism by referring to soccer as “Football”?
Obama recently referred to soccer as “football” at the G20 summit. No other president has ever called soccer “football” (ugh, football isn’t soccer!) yet Obama not only thinks soccer is football but actually likes soccer! Do you think Obama is turning his back on America by not hating soccer and by calling it football?

Question: Where does the word “soccer” come from, and why are the Americans using it to replace “football”?
Isn’t it silly to change a word that is used in over 170 Countries worldwide and over 3.1 Billion Football-fans?

Answer:

Answer by Michael
No, no it’s not. The majority isn’t always right, and the appeal to popularity is a logical fallacy.

The word “soccer comes from “aSOCiation football”, with the -er suffix.

Besides, it’s not like it’s an active attempt to “change” the word because we think we’re too good for you. Our language simply developed differently and has different words than your’s. I don’t see anything wrong with that. Do you accuse the French of being silly because they have a different word for it than Germans do? The same goes for British and American English, they’re two different things.

Yes. It must be a conspiracy. No other rational explanation. Anti-American conspiracy. For sure. Absolutely. Positively.

The Knights Templar and Masons met in the secret international headquarters of the Skull and Bones society located in the bowels of a dormant volcano on a secret island off the coast of Japan. Their mission – strike a horrible blow to the U.S.

After the human sacrifice, they raised their chalices and drank the blood of a sacrificial victim. With a sinister chuckle, their hooded leader announced that from hence forth, soccer would be called football. “Take that pitifiul Americans, mwhahahhahahahhahaha!” And they all laughed, and so it was done.

Please Sub, like and comment. This is a great drill to improve both feet. looks easy but it isn’t. I have found this simple practice has a major impact in improving players. More videos on www.youtube.com Step 1 tap the ball from side to side. Balance on non kicking foot and DON’T put your kicking foot on the ground Step 2 do the same but try to hop Step 3 hop forwards moving the ball left and right. Keep practicing Steve

PES vs FIFA has been an ongoing battle for years. Your turn to decide. I’m not any good at futbol games. This is for my Euro subscribers and fans of the series. This is Demo Gameplay from both games.
