Question: How to say “soccer” in Spanish?
I’m in advanced Spanish, and I’ve always used the word fútbol for soccer. But yesterday on the first day of class my teacher corrected me and said to say something along the lines of balómpie or balón al pie. She is from Colombia- is there a regional difference why she doesn’t use fútbol?

I noticed that both futbol with an accent and futbol without an accent both mean soccer. Of course, that may not mean that it is grammatically correct. So, I want to know first of all if that’s wrong, that “futbol” without an accent is incorrect, and also if it is correct, where can I find out what the Spanish grammar rules are.

All accents are there for a reason and they are all important.
The pronunciation changes without the accent.

Question: How do you turn “we’re going to play soccer” into “let’s go play soccer” in Spanish?
Not just the verb “ir”, but how do you say “let’s” instead of “we” or something else?
I know “vamanos” means let’s go, but how do you say “let’s draw a picture” or something like that?

vamos a jugar. just say it with intention that you would like them to go with you and not that your just going and letting them know..
Question: Spanish “futbol”?
In spanish soccer is called “Futbol”, but foot is “pie”.
Shouldn’t soccer be “piebol” or something like that?

Long ago it was called “balompié” (balón – ball + pie – foot).
Nobody would say that now.
Obviously, “fútbol” is the Spanish addaptation of “football”
Question: In Spanish: “Practicar al futbol” or “Practicar el futbol”?
In Spanish, we say, “jugar al futbol.”
Should I say “practicar al futbol” or “practicar el futbol?”

Question: Did the word “FUTBOL” (for soccer in Spanish countries) derive from the word “FOOTBALL”?
I always assumed that the word “futbol” was just a bad pronunciation of the word “football”, but I had a conversation with my roommate that made me question it. So I’m trying to find out if the two words are related or what. I haven’t had much luck searching online.
